Dandelion herb generally refers to the Chinese herb dandelion, which is usually taken as a decoction.
Dandelion is the dried whole grass of dandelion, alkali dandelion or several species of the same genus in the family of Asteraceae. It is a heat-clearing and detoxifying drug with bitter taste, sweet and cold nature, and belongs to the liver and stomach meridians. It has the effect of clearing away heat and detoxification, subduing swelling and dispersing lumps, inducing dampness and clearing gonorrhea.
Dandelion is often used in the treatment of breast carbuncle (red, swollen and painful breasts, poor milk discharge, and eventual suppurative disease), furuncle swelling and poisoning, lung carbuncle, damp-heat gonorrhea (increased frequency of urination, gonorrhea and astringent pain), jaundice, eye redness, swelling and pain, and other conditions.
Dandelion is usually taken as a decoction. However, it should be noted that the dosage of dandelion should not be too large, as too large a dosage may lead to slow diarrhea. The use of Chinese medicines should be guided by a professional physician, and should not be used on its own to avoid adverse consequences.
