Eye swelling after using eye cream is considered to be an eyelid allergy to eye cream and contact eyelid dermatitis. It is important to stop using the eye cream immediately and wash the skin of the face thoroughly. You can use saline or 3% boric acid solution as a cold wet compress, and use eye drops containing glucocorticoids, such as prednisone eye drops and flumetron eye drops, to spot the eyes. If there is no significant oedema in the eyelid, you can also apply an eye ointment containing glucocorticoids, such as tobramycin dexamethasone eye ointment, to the skin of the eyelid. If the edema of the eyelid is significant and painful, oral anti-allergy medications such as loratadine may be given. Sometimes light irritation can cause eyelid pain; you can reduce the irritation by wearing dark, flat glasses to block out the light.
