The incidence of this disease is approximately 9 to 19 per 100,000 children, with a mortality rate of 1.5 to 2%. The incidence in children under 5 years of age is approximately 80%, with more males than females, and coronary artery damage occurs in about 20% of patients. The incidence is mainly in children aged 2 to 5 years, with localized outbreaks typically occurring in late winter or spring. Kawasaki disease is usually a self-limiting disease with an acute phase of about 14 days. It is a treatable disease, and most children recover completely after the acute phase without further treatment.
