Persistent depressive disorder is a serious illness. Generally depression is self-limiting and usually resolves on its own in about six months or nine months, but it is not advocated to let patients go into remission without medication because depression is very difficult to overcome. Otherwise, after it lasts for several years, the patient’s outlook on life and physical health will be irreversibly changed. Therefore, it is not recommended for patients not to take medication, it is recommended that they must be treated with medication, and only after treatment can the symptoms of depression be sufficiently improved, and through psychotherapy they can again realize that their frustrations in life can be overcome. The possibility of depression will also be reduced after psychological counseling, and even if it happens, it may be less than before, so persistent depression is still recommended to be treated.
