There are 6 major categories of commonly used antihypertensive drugs, and several types of drugs have their advantages and defects, which are summarized here in the hope that they can bring convenience to patients. 1.Diuretics Commonly used drug hydrochlorothiazide: It is more effective for those who have sodium and water retention (overt edema or hidden edema) and those who have over-salty diet. However, long-term application of large amounts of electrolytes, uric acid, blood sugar, lipids have an impact. Especially gout patients should not be applied. 2, beta blockers Commonly used drugs such as metoprolol, bisoprolol: for nervousness, rapid heart rate, rapid arrhythmia, angina pectoris, myocardial infarction of hypertensive patients is more effective. However, they have adverse effects on hypertensive patients with asthma, slow heart rate (less than 55 beats per minute), acute pulmonary edema, and peripheral vascular disease. 3, calcium antagonists such as nifedipine, amlodipine: antihypertensive effect is more potent than other types of antihypertensive drugs, rapid, easy to make blood pressure as soon as possible to reach the standard. But the main disadvantages are: lower limb edema, dizziness and headache, facial flushing, increased heart rate. 4, the priligy class of drugs (i.e. ACEI class) such as captopril, benazepril, etc.: antihypertensive effect is good and lasting. Especially for patients with combined heart failure, heart attack, diabetic urine protein, not only can lower blood pressure and can reduce complications and mortality. The disadvantages are: the onset of action is long (except captopril) about 1 month to reach the maximum effect; dry cough has a higher chance of occurrence. 5, sartans (i.e. AEB class) such as temisartan, valsartan: the advantage is that the side effects are small, the duration of antihypertensive, especially for heart failure, diabetes, atrial fibrillation of hypertensive patients. Disadvantage is slow onset, 2 months to reach the maximum effect, but as long as adhere to, its antihypertensive effect is particularly stable. 6, compound preparations such as amlodipine/valsartan tablets, valsartan/hydrochlorothiazide tablets: the advantage is that it is effective for patients with moderate to severe hypertension, stubborn hypertension; once a day, easy to take; take a small number of drugs, less psychological pressure. Disadvantages are fixed dose and difficulty in dose adjustment.
