What is PICC

PICC is a peripherally inserted central venous catheter, or PICC, which is a central venous catheter placed through a peripheral vein with the distal end of the catheter positioned in the superior vena cava. The catheter is made of high-grade silicone material, which is soft, resistant to aging and has a long service life. PICC is mostly placed by left upper arm puncture with high success rate, low risk, low infection rate and long retention time of several months to one year. It is suitable for patients who need long-term intravenous therapy and lack peripheral venous access, for patients who need to enter irritating drugs or hypertonic or viscous fluids, especially for patients undergoing chemotherapy for oncology, and also for children.
