In the last two years, we have performed arthroscopic shoulder surgery on many patients with impingement syndrome and rotator cuff tears, and we are very happy that they have recovered well after the surgery. In our joint surgery clinic, we see a lot of patients suffering from shoulder pain every day, and shoulder pain brings a lot of inconvenience to these patients. Some of them can’t sleep well at night because of the pain, and some of them can’t even dress themselves or wash their face and brush their teeth because of the severe pain, and some of them even have problems wiping their buttocks in the toilet. When these patients go to the hospital, most of them are diagnosed with “frozen shoulder” and told to “exercise with abandon” and not to be afraid of pain. The situation is getting worse and worse! We would like to remind our patients that shoulder pain is not always due to frozen shoulder, but also due to acromioclavicular impingement syndrome, rotator cuff tear or some other problems. Due to the lack of understanding of shoulder disorders by many orthopedic surgeons in the past, the diagnosis of frozen shoulder has become a “waste basket”, and whenever a patient complains of shoulder pain, it is diagnosed as frozen shoulder. It is recommended that patients with shoulder pain, especially those who have been in pain for a long time and have weakness in lifting the shoulder, should consult a specialist in sports medicine or a specialist in arthroscopic surgery, so as not to delay treatment. I also welcome patients who suffer from shoulder pain to ask me questions, and I will be happy to answer them.
