How many times do you need chemotherapy for early stage breast cancer?

Early stage breast cancer usually requires about 4-6 cycles of chemotherapy because early stage breast cancer mainly refers to small tumors, less than 2cm lymph nodes without metastasis are called early stage breast cancer. The prognosis of early stage breast cancer is relatively good and the chance of recurrence is low. Therefore, the intensity of chemotherapy can be weaker and the number of cycles can be less, so usually 4 cycles or at most 6 cycles of chemotherapy are needed after surgery and the treatment can be followed up. In case of hormone receptor positive breast cancer, chemotherapy can be dispensed with and endocrine adjuvant therapy can be used directly. For hormone receptor negative breast cancer, HER-2 overexpression may be required to extend the duration of chemotherapy to 6 cycles, along with anti-HER-2 targeted drug therapy.
