Wisdom teeth usually hurt for 3 to 7 days after extraction. Usually after wisdom teeth extraction, a hole will be left behind, called the extraction socket, after the anesthesia has passed, the pain is abnormal, but the extraction socket will form a blood clot about half an hour after the extraction, but after about 3 to 7 days, the wound area has healed, and in turn, the pain sensation will slowly disappear. It is also important to note that if the patient has had a wisdom tooth extracted and the alveolar bone removed at the same time, the pain may be prolonged. In addition to this, patients can apply ice packs to the extraction area in the early stages to ease the pain. If the pain is severe, the patient can choose analgesic medication under the guidance of a medical professional to relieve the symptoms. If the pain sensation continues unabated or worsens, or symptoms such as fever, bleeding, and increased swelling occur, immediate medical attention should be sought.
