Tuberculosis does not cause hair loss. Tuberculosis is an infectious disease of the respiratory system caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The lesions caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis are mainly in the lungs, causing chronic damage to the lung tissues and not causing lesions in other parts of the body. However, under certain circumstances, such as old age and frailty, or when the body’s resistance declines, the tubercle bacilli in the lungs can spread to other tissues and organs through the bloodstream, causing tuberculosis in other parts of the body. It spreads to the pleura and causes tuberculous pleurisy, to the bone marrow and causes bone tuberculosis, to the liver and causes liver tuberculosis, and to the meninges and causes tuberculous meningitis. But it does not spread to the epidermis to cause tuberculosis, and hair grows mainly on the epidermis, so tuberculosis has no effect on hair. Moreover, most of the anti-tuberculosis drugs do not have the side effect of affecting hair growth and do not cause hair loss.
