Signs of improvement of intracranial infection include reduction of clinical symptoms, gradual return of laboratory findings to normal, and gradual return of imaging tests to normal.
1. Reduction of clinical symptoms: body temperature returns to normal; headache, nausea, vomiting and other symptoms are significantly reduced; mental status and appetite improve; meningeal irritation signs are weakened; cervical rigidity is weakened.
2. Laboratory examination results gradually returned to normal: intracranial pressure by lumbar puncture decreased significantly and gradually returned to normal; cerebrospinal fluid was clear and bright, white blood cells basically returned to normal, and biochemical indexes, such as protein, sugar, chloride, etc., basically returned to normal; cerebrospinal fluid pathogenicity examination and antibody test were negative.
3. Imaging examination gradually returns to normal: cranial nuclear magnetism shows that the edema of brain tissue is reduced, and the abnormal frontal and temporal lobe foci disappear or recover from the previous ones.
Whether the intracranial infection is getting better or not should be judged by physicians from many aspects. During the course of treatment, we should pay attention to observing the changes of the condition, reviewing the lumbar puncture on a regular basis, and adjusting the treatment plan as appropriate.
