How deep the wound to play tetanus

If the wound is deeper than 1 cm, the patient must be injected with tetanus antitoxin. Tetanus bacillus is an anaerobic bacterium that usually multiplies in an anaerobic state. In the case of deeper wounds, the local oxygen content is relatively low, which tends to favor the proliferation of tetanus bacilli. Usually, after trauma wounds deeper than 1 cm, patients must be injected with tetanus antitoxin. The most frequent clinical situation that can easily cause tetanus infection is mainly caused by a rusty nail piercing the skin. Because rusty nails lacerate deeper and longer wounds, and because rusty nails tend to induce local inflammation, they are susceptible to tetanus infection. After an injury occurs, patients are advised to receive a tetanus vaccination within 24 hours to help prevent infection. In addition, after the injection of tetanus antitoxin, the wound should be kept clean and hygienic, avoid getting wet, and avoid eating spicy and irritating food to avoid affecting the effect of the drug.
