Isolated lung nodules of 8mm are not necessarily cancerous, but may also be lesions such as inflammatory lung nodules or tuberculosis balls. There are two possibilities for 8mm isolated lung nodules: benign and malignant nodules. Generally, benign nodules have clearer boundaries, regular morphology, and grow more slowly. Malignant nodules, such as lung cancer, are usually irregular in shape, have burrs around the nodule and grow rapidly, so a chest CT examination can make a preliminary identification. Generally, to determine the nature of isolated lung nodules, histopathological examination of the nodules is needed, but because of the difficulty of obtaining tissues for pathological examination of 8mm nodules, patients should cooperate with the doctor to take regular review of chest CT to observe the changes of the nodules, and do not take therapeutic measures for the time being for the lesions of isolated lung nodules.
