What restorative options are available after tooth extraction?

Restorations are usually started three to six months after tooth extraction. This is because the alveolar ridge has to undergo a process of bone resorption after tooth extraction, and the resorption rate is the fastest within three months, and after six months the resorption rate tends to level off. Therefore, the restoration must not be started too early. In older patients, the recovery time can be increased accordingly. The restoration after tooth extraction depends on the patient’s condition: the location of the extracted tooth, the condition of the remaining teeth, the condition of the alveolar ridge, and your requirements and financial situation. After tooth extraction, people often ask how to “set teeth” or “install dentures”, these are common terms, and in the dental field we call it “restoration”. In fact, the oral prosthesis is divided into several parts, according to the patient’s conditions and requirements we will develop a suitable treatment plan for the patient, generally divided into several parts: implant denture, movable denture, fixed denture, full denture. The movable denture is a denture with hooks that can be removed and worn, with general aesthetics and comfort, but a wide range of adaptations. Fixed dentures are known to everyone, and porcelain restorations are one of them. They are restorations that require the removal of teeth – they are cemented to the patient’s own natural teeth after tooth preparation and do not need to be removed every day. A full denture can only be restored when there are no teeth in the mouth. It is a restoration that does not rely on retaining rings, but only on atmospheric forces and salivary adhesions.
