Children are not included in the contraindications of leucaena leucocephala root, so children with indications related to blood-heat and damp-heat can drink leucaena leucocephala root boiled water, but children with spleen and stomach deficiency (weak and cold spleen and stomach) should not drink it. The root of leucaena leucocephala is the rhizome of leucaena leucocephala, a plant of the family Gramineae, which is effective in clearing away heat and diuresis, cooling blood and stopping bleeding (cooling and moisturizing the blood and preventing hemorrhage). It can be used clinically to treat epistaxis (nosebleed), blood in stool and blood in urine caused by blood heat, and jaundice, edema and vomiting caused by dampness-heat. Note that it is not recommended to be taken by those with deficiency and coldness in the spleen and stomach, and those with excessive urination without thirst (urinating excessively but without thirst). Children with blood-heat and damp-heat that meet the indications of this medicine can drink water boiled with Radix Bupleurum Chinense. However, because of the cold nature of this medicine, it is forbidden for children with cold spleen and stomach. The efficacy of single medicine boiling water is limited, patients who need to use the medicine, should go to the hospital, under the guidance of the doctor, not unauthorized use of medicine, to ensure the safety of medication.
