When does prostate enlargement require surgery?

Many patients know that as they age, the prostate can become enlarged (hypertrophy), but when is the best time for surgery? There are a few things that patients should be aware of: 1. Physical examination reveals an enlarged prostate with an increased volume, residual urine of more than 50 ml, and poor results with medication. This suggests that medication should first be considered first. 2, you can’t tolerate frequent urination, and the number of times you urinate at night affects your sleep. It really affects your quality of life. 3. Difficulty in urination, dribbling after urination, waiting for urination, thin urine line. This is an obstruction of the urethra and early surgery is recommended. 4, combined with hernia and hemorrhoids. Prostate enlargement causes difficulty in urination and needs to be caused by increased abdominal pressure. Early surgery is recommended. 5, Ultrasound or CT examination suggests thickening of the bladder wall, that is, crestalization of the bladder wall, surgery is recommended. Surgical treatment, usually using transurethral electrodesiccation (no incision), is fast recovery, less painful and shorter hospital stay.
