Amaranth has the effect of clearing heat and detoxification (removing heat and toxicity from the body) and cooling the blood, which is effective in skin diseases such as dengtoxin (an acute infectious disease that can be seen as reddening of the skin as if it were painted) and eczema.
Amaranth tastes sour, cold in nature, has the effect of clearing away heat and removing toxins, cooling blood and stopping bleeding (making blood cool and moist, preventing bleeding), stopping dysentery, and has a certain effect on skin diseases caused by heat toxins and blood heat, such as dengtoxin, eczema and so on.
It can also be used to treat carbuncle and swollen sores, snake and insect bites, blood in stool, hemorrhoidal blood, hemorrhagic leakage (excessive menstrual flow or more than a few drops of blood), and heat-poisoned blood dysentery (dysentery caused by heat-poisoned feelings and blood in the stool).
Amaranth is used externally or internally in combination with other medicines, and is contraindicated in cases of skin allergy or breakage. The Classic of the Materia Medica states that amaranth should be used with caution in cases of coldness in the spleen and stomach (spleen and stomach weakness and cold), and intestinal slipperiness and leakage.
Be sure to use the medicine under the guidance of a Chinese medicine practitioner. Individuals should not use the medicine on their own to avoid adverse consequences.
