Plankton and tightness in the chest and ribs can be treated with traditional Chinese medicine according to the clinician’s diagnosis, such as Chai Hu Shuo Liver Essence, Si Qi Tang, Lian Pu Drink, Xiang Sha Liu Jun Zi, and Blood Palace Blood Stasis Expelling Tang. 1. The most common cause of chest and hypochondrium is stagnation of liver qi, which is characterized by chest and hypochondrium distension and tightness, and is most closely related to emotional disorders. The treatment is based on dredging the liver and regulating the qi, with the addition and subtraction of Chai Hu Shuo Hepatitis Powder and the addition and subtraction of Consistency Decoction in cases of deficiency of liver yin. 2. For those with phlegm and qi obstruction, in addition to chest and hypochondriac distension and stuffiness, patients may have stuffy pain from time to time, or have a foreign body sensation in the throat, with a white and greasy tongue, the treatment should be based on resolving phlegm and regulating qi, and Siqi Tang with additions and subtractions, and if there is prolonged stifling of pain, Psidium Guaerinum Allium Baker’s Semi-Hypericum Tang with additions and subtractions can be used. 3. For patients with damp-heat obstruction (dampness and heat gathering to form stagnation), who eat spicy and greasy food, have bad breath and dry mouth in the morning, and have smelly and sticky stools, Lian Pu Drink should be used with additions and subtractions. 4. For patients with deficiency and stagnation of qi due to prolonged illness or overuse of qi-consuming traditional Chinese medicines, patients may have the symptoms of fullness and tightness in the chest and hypochondrium which may be light or heavy at times, tiredness and weakness, and decrease in appetite, so Xiangsha Liujunzi Soup should be used to add or subtract the symptoms. 5. Patients with blood stasis may also suffer from tightness and pain in the chest and hypochondrium, accompanied by irregular stabbing pains and bruising of the lips and mouth, etc., which can be treated by activating blood circulation and removing blood stasis. The patient should consult a doctor in time after the discomfort occurs, and choose the medication under the guidance of the physician’s diagnosis, and should not use the medication on his own, so as to avoid delaying the condition.
