Is frequent diarrhea a sign of bowel cancer?

Frequent diarrhea does not necessarily mean intestinal cancer, and the diagnosis can only be confirmed after colonoscopy and pathological examination, as clinical symptoms alone cannot determine whether it is intestinal cancer. There are many causes of diarrhea, such as indigestion, which can cause food retention in the stomach due to insufficient gastric power, thus causing diarrhea; food poisoning, which can cause intestinal diseases due to contamination of food by bacteria and toxins; inflammatory stimulation of colitis, which can increase intestinal peristalsis and lead to frequent diarrhea; and gastrointestinal diseases such as intestinal tuberculosis, small intestine malabsorption and colon polyps, which can lead to frequent diarrhea. If a patient has diarrhea along with blood in stool, abdominal pain, abdominal mass, anemia, weight loss and other symptoms, he/she needs to go to gastroenterology department for examination and clear diagnosis to exclude the possibility of intestinal cancer. The occurrence of bowel cancer has a certain relationship with unreasonable diet, so we should pay attention to eating more fresh vegetables and fruits in daily life, as well as doing proper physical exercise. In addition, patients with family history of bowel cancer can have regular colonoscopy.
