Precautions for use and maintenance of three-way valve PICC
1. Push 10ml saline before infusion to make sure the catheter is clear, forbid to use this syringe to draw back blood to avoid catheter blockage.
2. Use 10ml (6ml for children) of saline to flush and seal the catheter with positive pressure continuously after each infusion, forbid to flush and seal the catheter by intravenous drip or ordinary intravenous push. Gao Wei, nursing consultation, Qilu Hospital, Shandong University
3. immediately after transfusion of blood collection, fatty milk and other highly viscous drugs, flush the tube with 20ml (6ml for children) saline pulse before receiving other infusions.
4. Secure the catheter properly and avoid pulling the catheter when moving. The skin, catheter and patch are united and the air bubbles under the patch are drained.
5. Observe and record the scale of the extracorporeal catheter during drug exchange.
6. Repair the catheter immediately to prevent it from slipping into the body if the catheter is broken or fractured due to excessive activity pulling the catheter.
7. Remove the old patch in the direction of venous return to avoid pulling the catheter.
8. If the patient is allergic to the patch, etc. and a more permeable dressing must be used. Please shorten the time for dressing change and puncture site disinfection accordingly, and treat the puncture site promptly if redness and swelling are found.
9. When using PICC infusion, the infusion rate should be observed frequently, and if the flow rate is found to be significantly reduced, the cause should be promptly identified and dealt with appropriately.
10. Strictly observe the aseptic operation during drug exchange, and fix the catheter by applying the transparent film to half of the wing row part of the connector, so that the outer part of the catheter body is under the aseptic protection of the film.
11. Do not use force to flush the catheter, the maximum infusion pressure of the three-way valve PICC catheter is 25psi, use this catheter for routine pressurized infusion or infusion pump drug delivery, strictly prohibited for high-pressure syringe pump push contrast agent, etc.
12. Please register and sign the use/maintenance form after maintenance.
13. It is forbidden to use syringes less than 10ml to flush the tube for drug administration.
14. Do not apply adhesive tape directly to the catheter. 15.
15. It is prohibited to artificially transfer the external part of the catheter into the body.
16. It is prohibited to open the connector and re-install it for use.
