A patient asked me about having a cataract and having improved vision after surgery without any discomfort, and I never reviewed it because I was busy at work. Is this okay? First of all, let’s talk about why we need to review. Post-cataract surgery review is not just to see how much vision there is.
1. The most important thing to review after surgery is to see how the incision is, especially if there are any surgery-related complications such as endophthalmitis.
2.Because of the preoperative cataract, the fundus before the surgery is not clearly seen, so the postoperative cataract review also needs to see if there are still any fundus lesions.
3. The postoperative review can also guide the patient on the need for postoperative precautions, such as when to discontinue postoperative medications, whether and when to dispense glasses, and especially to dispense glasses to read books. The previous patient did not want to review until months later when he was uncomfortable looking and he only used eye drops for a few days, which is very dangerous and some complications may be irreversible if he comes for review only once he feels uncomfortable.
