There is no clinical term for ear stones, which are mostly cerumen impaction and usually have no obvious symptoms. When the obstruction is severe, symptoms such as itching of the ear canal, stuffy feeling in the ear, hearing loss and tinnitus may occur.
Symptoms of cerumen impaction are more related to the location and size. Usually, cerumen impaction is shallow and small in size and does not show obvious symptoms. They are usually not serious, less harmful, and relatively easy to deal with.
In a small number of people, the formation of an embolism due to excessive cerumen that is not treated in time may result in deeper cerumen or even larger cerumen, which can be more serious. Due to the large size of the embolism, there will be a foreign body sensation and thus itching of the ear canal. As the cerumen blocks the ear canal and compresses the tympanic membrane, symptoms such as stuffiness in the ear, hearing loss and even tinnitus may occur.
It is recommended that patients seek timely medical treatment, actively cooperate with doctors and standardize treatment to prevent aggravation of the condition.
