Characteristics of Poria

Poria has a sweet and light flavor, and is flat in nature. It belongs to the heart, lung, spleen and kidney meridians.
Poria has the effects of promoting water retention, strengthening the spleen and dampness, and nourishing the heart. It is mainly used to treat edema caused by various reasons, diarrhea caused by spleen deficiency, and is also commonly used in the treatment of heartburn, insomnia, and panic attacks.
Poria is often used in combination with Zedoary, Poria, Atractylodes and other herbs to treat edema and dysuria caused by water-dampness (water-dampness stays in the body), and in combination with Chinese yam, Atractylodes, Coix Seed, and other herbs to treat diarrhea caused by spleen deficiency and dampness.
Poria adverse reactions and contraindications are not clear, need to be under the guidance of a doctor to identify and match other herbs in order to achieve the desired therapeutic effect, do not blindly use on their own.
