The most common symptoms of monkeypox virus infection are: rash, fever, pain, malaise and swollen lymph nodes. The general incubation period after infection is 7 to 14 days, and can be divided into three phases according to the progress and changes of the disease. 1. Prodromal stage: Typical symptoms include fever, headache, muscle pain, malaise, etc., which usually lasts for 2 to 5 days. 2. Rash phase: the rash starts to appear about 1~3 days after the fever, first as a macular rash, then as papules, herpes and pustules in order, meanwhile the rash is accompanied by pain, and the distribution of the rash is characterized by centrifugal, with more on the face and the limbs, and less on the trunk. 3. Crusting phase: the disease lasts about 2 to 4 weeks, and gradually dries, crusts and falls off after the pustular phase. If you have the above symptoms and have a history of suspected contact, you should immediately seek medical attention for isolation and treatment to avoid infecting others.
