How long can you live with a liver abscess?

Liver abscess can be cured in the vast majority of regular treatments and live the same number of years as a normal person. The treatments include internal medicine treatment, percutaneous hepatic puncture, and surgical treatment.
1. Internal medicine treatment: mainly use drugs to treat liver abscess infected by bacteria and amoeba, generally use antibiotics and other drugs. Symptomatic supportive treatment with repeated puncture, fever reduction, and nutritional supplementation.
2. Percutaneous hepatic puncture: if the liver abscess is relatively large, or has not been reduced after drug treatment. Drainage is usually performed under ultrasound localization. If it fails to drain cleanly, repeated drainage is needed.
3. Surgery: mainly used for those who have no improvement after internal medicine treatment and repeated puncture and drainage, or those who have high fever that doesn’t go down, or those whose abscess has burst and contaminated the surrounding organs. After the operation, we should continue to use antibiotic treatment.
After regular treatment, most liver abscesses can be cured, and will not affect life expectancy, and the earlier the treatment, the better the result. The earlier the treatment, the better the result. So go to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible.
