Can intestinal polyps heal on their own?

Intestinal polyps usually do not heal on their own and require regular follow-up and appropriate medical intervention depending on the condition. When intestinal polyps are small, patients often have no obvious symptoms. Larger polyps may cause abdominal pain, bloody stools, black stools, and changes in bowel habits. This disease is basically unable to heal itself, and if timely intervention is not carried out, it may lead to wasting, anemia, intestinal obstruction, and even cancer. For adenomatous polyps in the intestines, endoscopic treatment is generally recommended, and patients who do have contraindications can be followed up if the polyps are small. For patients with larger polyps, endoscopic treatment, resection of the intestinal segment, and simple resection of the polyp can be performed. Once diagnosed with the disease, patients are advised to seek medical examination as soon as possible and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
