Can I get moxibustion on my waist and abdomen while breastfeeding?

Women who are breastfeeding can use moxibustion on the lower back and abdomen.
Moxibustion is a common and safe traditional treatment that involves igniting moxa leaves and stimulating the patient’s acupoints and surrounding skin with warmth. Moxibustion has the effect of removing wind and dampness, warming menstruation, dispersing cold, and promoting qi and blood circulation, and can be used clinically to treat rheumatism and paralysis, lumbar back pain, stomach pain and other conditions.
Moxibustion should not be performed at the aorta, the heart, or where the skin is broken. Moxibustion should not be performed on the waist and abdomen of women during pregnancy and menstruation to avoid adverse effects. However, there is no research evidence that moxibustion should not be performed on the waist and abdomen of women who are breastfeeding.
It is recommended that breastfeeding patients with symptoms of discomfort go to the hospital in a timely manner, follow the doctor’s instructions, do not blindly moxibustion, so as not to cause damage to the body.
