Cold and extreme heat is a term used in Chinese medicine, from Suwen – Yin and Yang Yingxiang Daxian (素问-阴阳應象大论). It is a description based on the relationship between yin and yang. Cold is yin and heat is yang. They can be transformed into each other. According to the viewpoint of transformation of yin and yang, it is believed that yin-cold evidence will be manifested by yang-heat evidence when it reaches a certain level. Spring, summer, fall and winter in nature are the complete process of mutual conversion of yin and yang. For example, the winter solstice is the most prevalent day of yin and cold in winter, and after the winter solstice, yang begins to recover until the summer solstice when yang-heat is most prevalent. On the contrary, the summer solstice to winter solstice is also the same reason. In the clinic, if the patient with Yin cold is feverish and red cheekbones (reddish cheekbones on both sides of the face), this is the Yin cold refusing the Yang qi outside, which is the true cold and false Yang evidence, and it is the disease is further progressed, which needs special attention.
