Tumors in the thyroid gland include benign tumors, malignant tumors, and even hyperthyroidism. Ultrasound and thyroid blood tests, including T3, T4, free T3, free T4, and TSH tests, are usually needed to rule out the possibility of hyperthyroidism. Generally speaking, the possibility of benign tumors below grade 4 is very high, and the possibility of malignant tumors is minimal, while those above grade 4 should be alerted to the possibility of cancer. If a thyroid tumor above grade 4 is <1.5cm in diameter, cytocentesis should be performed to rule out thyroid cancer, and if it is confirmed to be thyroid cancer, radical thyroid cancer surgery is usually required, together with postoperative medication and radiotherapy.
