What new treatments are available for urethral stricture?

Male urethral stricture is one of the more difficult diseases in urology, mostly related to trauma, in addition to urinary tract infection and instrumentation can also lead to urethral stricture. The traditional treatment of urethral stricture can be done by urethral dilation and cold knife incision, but some complex strictures require surgical resection of the diseased segment followed by reanastomosis or urethral replacement. We have achieved satisfactory recent results by using ultrasound-monitored balloon dilation for urethral strictures, which allows real-time observation of the results of urethral treatment of the strictured segment under ultrasound monitoring and can be repeated until the results are satisfactory, and is a new method to be considered for the treatment of urethral strictures.
