The recovery journey of a patient with esophageal cancer in Ata Town

The patient, Wang haicheng, was hospitalized in March 2012 due to a feeling of swallowing obstruction for 4 months. He had undergone gastroscopy and CT examination in our hospital and the Cancer Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and was diagnosed with progressive esophageal cancer with metastasis in the paratracheal lymph nodes, which was suitable for simultaneous radiotherapy. The patient completed radiotherapy on July 25. On 2012-10-11, the patient had a repeat gastroscopy and saw that the lumen of the original esophageal tumor was about 1 cm in diameter, with obvious stiffness and difficulty in passing, and the mucosa was white, without erosion, ulceration, or bulging changes, showing typical fibrotic changes after radiotherapy. The patient was readmitted to the hospital on 2012-12-20 for hoarseness. After admission, gastroscopy showed mild erosion of the original esophageal cancer, biopsy showed proliferative changes, no significant luminal stenosis, smooth gastroscopic passage, and satisfactory control of local lesions; CT showed significant enlargement of the upper mediastinal lymph nodes, and the hoarseness was considered to be caused by compression of the recurrent laryngeal nerve. After communication with the family and the patient, informed consent was obtained and cell biology treatment was given. Currently, cell isolation and culture are in progress, and the 1st transfusion has been completed. We are looking forward to a good outcome for the patient.
