Ear blockage after descending is due to the rapid descent from high altitude terrain to low altitude terrain. This situation is similar to taking off and landing in an airplane, and the ear will feel this way when taking off and descending. If the altitude drops too quickly, the eustachian tube is not ready to regulate the air pressure inside and outside the middle ear by opening, resulting in an imbalance of air pressure inside and outside the middle ear. When the air pressure inside and outside the middle ear cavity is balanced, through the opening of the eustachian tube and the swallowing action, air will enter the middle ear to achieve a balance of air pressure inside and outside the middle ear. If there is an imbalance between the internal and external air pressure, the eardrum will feel trapped and the tinnitus will be severe and there will be a loss of hearing.
