A woman needs a cervical biopsy if she has the following conditions. The purpose of a cervical biopsy is to remove some tissue from the cervix for laboratory tests to find out if there are malignant lesions in the cervix. First, when a woman has colposcopy suggesting abnormal vinegar white epithelium or iodine test without coloring the epithelium, tissue needs to be taken from the abnormal epithelial area for pathological examination. Secondly, patients with cervical polyps need pathological examination after removal of cervical polyps. Thirdly, abnormal vaginal bleeding and contact vaginal bleeding require cervical biopsy. If the cervical biopsy suggests abnormal results, active treatment should be carried out.
