Symptoms of diabetes in pregnant women

Most gestational diabetes is asymptomatic and elevated blood glucose is found during blood glucose testing. Some patients may have the following symptoms: 1) obesity and more sweating; 2) increased facial fat and enlarged nasal turbinates; 3) retinopathy and blurred vision in severe cases; 4) ketoacidosis may occur in critical cases, with exhaled breath smelling like rotten apples, requiring immediate hospitalization for blood glucose control and ketone-lowering treatment; 5) stillbirths are likely to occur if blood glucose is high during pregnancy; 6) liver and kidney function damage, causing low or high urine and other symptoms.
