Facial nerve palsy clinically includes central facial nerve palsy and peripheral facial nerve palsy, for peripheral facial nerve palsy, clinically it takes about 1-3 months to get well. Peripheral facial nerve palsy is mainly due to infection and swelling of the facial nerve after virus, bacteria or catching a cold, and the patient has a malfunction of one side of the facial muscles, and some of the patients may also have pain behind the ear on the affected side. For mild cases of peripheral facial nerve palsy, the patient can recover within about a month. For moderate to severe cases, it takes about two or even three months to recover. For patients with central facial nerve palsy, which is caused by cerebrovascular disease, the treatment time for most patients is about half a month to half a year. Patients with mild cerebrovascular disease will recover in about half a month after treatment, and patients with severe cerebrovascular disease will recover in about six months.
