What’s wrong with a hard stomach in mid-pregnancy

A hard stomach in mid-pregnancy is usually caused by false contractions and changes in fetal position, which are normal physiological phenomena; it may also be caused by pathologic reasons such as preeclampsia or placental abruption.
1.Physiological:
(1) False contractions: the hardening of the stomach in mid-pregnancy, if there is no pain, most of them are caused by physiological contractions and will not affect the baby’s health. Generally do not need to worry too much, do not need special treatment, usually pay attention to rest.
(2) Fetal position change: this is also known as fetal movement, the signs of fetal movement in the middle of pregnancy will gradually become obvious, there will be a hard stomach. When the amplitude of fetal movement is too large, it will likewise stimulate the mother’s uterus and trigger false contractions.
2. Pathologic:
(1) Pre-eclampsia: If the hidden pain in the stomach has a tendency to gradually worsen, and there is tearing pain in the lower abdomen, it may be the placenta previa of the pregnant woman, which may also lead to pre-eclampsia. Pregnant women usually have symptoms such as a sense of descending fetus, irregular contractions, and vaginal bleeding.
(2) Placental abruption: Frequent false contractions may lead to placental abruption, and the pregnant woman may experience symptoms such as irregular abdominal pain, lumbago or low back pain. Placental abruption may trigger the chance of miscarriage or preterm labor. If symptoms such as irregular abdominal pain or vaginal bleeding occur, it is recommended to go to the hospital in time.
If you notice your stomach hardening and abnormal fetal movement after eliminating physiological factors, you need to go to the hospital in time for relevant examinations and cooperate with the doctor for treatment.
