If the vulva itches only at night, it is recommended to wear cotton underwear and to wash the vulva well before going to bed. However, for vulvar itching, it is important to identify the causes, such as whether the vulvar skin is flushed, whether there are inflammatory manifestations, and whether the vulva has symptoms of malnutrition. If the vulva is malnourished, it is likely to cause a lighter color of the vulvar skin and more severe vulvar itching. Also, if there is a pathogenic infection of the vagina, such as Candida or trichomonas, mycoplasma, or chlamydia, it can cause vulvar itching. In the case of vulvar itching at night, clinical examination of the stool is also recommended to rule out that the vulvar itching is caused by pinworms crawling out of the anus to lay eggs.
