Laryngitis is a chronic inflammation of the mucous membrane of the larynx caused by bacterial infection or improper use of voice. Depending on the extent of the lesion, it can be divided into chronic simple laryngitis, chronic hypertrophic laryngitis and chronic atrophic laryngitis. In pediatric laryngitis, the onset of the disease is rapid, and if left untreated, respiratory and circulatory failure, coma, convulsions and even death can occur. Some children get laryngitis repeatedly, why are children prone to laryngitis? 1, children’s laryngeal cavity is small, the mucous membrane in the larynx is loose, and swelling can easily lead to vocal cord obstruction. 2. The laryngeal cartilage is soft, and the mucosa and submucosa are attached to the submucosa, so the swelling is heavy when inflammation occurs. 3. The larynx is rich in submucosal lymphatic tissue and glands, and inflammation is prone to submucosal swelling resulting in a narrow laryngeal cavity. 4.Pediatric cough reflex is poor, and secretions from the trachea and larynx are not easily discharged. 5.Pediatric patients have poor resistance and immunity, so they react heavily to inflammation. 6. The nervous system is not mature, and laryngospasm is likely to occur due to inflammatory stimuli. 7, laryngospasm in addition to causing laryngeal obstruction, and make the congestion increased, the laryngeal cavity more narrow. The key to treatment is to lift the laryngeal obstruction, the use of glucocorticoids, nebulization treatment.
