Diabetes is not caused by eating sugar. Many normal people who do not have problems with their pancreatic islet function will not have diabetes from eating sugar. For example, in normal people, fasting blood sugar is 3.9-6.1mmol/L, but in patients, fasting blood sugar is more than 6.1mmol/L. If the patient eats more sugar, fasting blood sugar may rise further and reach 7mmol/L or more, then the diagnosis of diabetes is reached. Diabetes is caused by various reasons that lead to the patient’s own insulin secretion problems, or serious obesity leading to insulin resistance, and eating more sugar is not too directly related.
