Staging of diabetic retinal fundopathy

Diabetic retinopathy is divided into six stages depending on the severity of the disease. Generally, for simple diabetic retinopathy, there are microaneurysms or small hemorrhages in stage I, white or yellow hard exudates and some hemorrhagic spots in stage II, white soft exudates and some hemorrhagic spots in stage III. In stage IV-VI, it is called the proliferative stage of diabetic retinopathy. Generally, there will be new blood vessels and vitreous hemorrhage in the fundus, and further development of the fundus will have neovascularization and fiber proliferation, and finally there will be neovascularization and fiber proliferation, and more serious retinal detachment will occur.
