If it is physiological unilateral enlargement of tonsil without obvious symptoms, it is not serious; if it is pathologic, such as inflammation of tonsil, tonsil tumors and other causes of sore throat, dysphagia, etc., it is more serious, and needs to be treated as soon as possible.
1. Physiological enlargement: for children, due to the soundness of the local immune function, may lead to tonsil hyperplasia and hypertrophy in order to provide more immune cells, there may be unilateral tonsil enlargement, if the degree of hypertrophy is not serious, does not cause open-mouth breathing, snoring and other symptoms, not affecting the normal life, is not serious, no special treatment.
2. Pathological enlargement:
(1) If tonsil inflammation causes unilateral enlargement, accompanied by pain and fever, this situation is more serious, need to give anti-infection treatment, if bacterial infection, can give cefaclor, amoxicillin and other anti-infection. If it is recurrent, surgical removal can be considered.
(2) If tonsil tumor causes unilateral sore throat, foreign body sensation, difficulty in swallowing, open-mouth breathing and other symptoms, it is more serious and surgical resection can be considered.
