What to get rabies vaccine

Rabies vaccination is required if there is a break in the skin after being bitten or scratched by an animal. Rabies is a disease with a 100% mortality rate, and there is no treatment available once it has developed, so prevention of rabies is critical. If an animal bite or scratch only breaks the skin and does not bleed, this is a Class II exposure and requires rabies vaccination. If the skin is not only broken but also bleeding or oozing blood, then it is a higher level III exposure, which requires not only rabies vaccination but also rabies immunoglobulin or anti-rabies serum. Only if there is no skin damage after being scratched and licked by the animal, and if there is no pain after applying alcohol to the area, then the epidermis is not broken and rabies vaccination is not required. It is recommended that the patient should take this seriously enough to receive rabies vaccination if there has been a grade II or higher exposure.
