After gastroscopy biopsy, if there are no complications, you can usually eat a small amount of fruit on the 2nd day.
Gastroscopic biopsy usually refers to the endoscopic removal of gastric mucosa in the presence of ulcers or gastric polyps for pathologic testing. This operation will cause different degrees of damage to the gastric mucosa. Therefore, it is usually not possible to eat anything immediately after the biopsy.
If the patient’s symptoms are mild and there is no obvious complication after the examination, he/she can eat soft and easy-to-digest semi-liquid food after 4-8 hours, because fruits are not easy to be digested, which will increase the burden of the gastrointestinal tract, so usually on the 2nd day after the biopsy, then don’t eat too much of fruits and it is better to heat the fruits and take them again, so as to avoid the stimulation of the gastrointestinal tract caused by the cool fruits.
If there are complications after the gastroscopy biopsy, such as gastrointestinal perforation or gastrointestinal bleeding, it is necessary to keep fasting, and even more so, not to eat foods such as fruits, which can easily aggravate the gastrointestinal symptoms.
If any of these complications occur after a gastroscopy biopsy, it is recommended to go to the hospital immediately and be treated accordingly with the help of a doctor.
