Tongkou Deafness Pill consists of Chaihu, gentian, aloe vera, ripe rhubarb, scutellaria baicalensis, Qingdai, tiannanxing, muxiang, Qingpi, Chenpi, angelica sinensis, gardenia and the above twelve flavors, crushed into a fine powder, sifted, mixed, flooded with water to make pills, dried, talc crushed into a very fine powder, and coated and lightened to be obtained. The main treatment is to clear the liver and diarrhea (clear liver fire), pass the orifices and moisten the stool. It is used for heatiness of liver meridian, dizziness, deafness and cicadas, swelling and pain at the bottom of the ear, redness of the eyes and bitterness of the mouth, fullness of the chest and diaphragm, and dryness of the bowels. Clinical application for vertigo caused by liver meridian heat, up to disturb the clear orifices of the disease. Symptoms include dizziness, tinnitus, distension and pain in the head and eyes, deafness, cicadas, swelling and pain at the base of the ear, constipation, redness of the eyes and bitterness of the mouth, fullness of the chest and diaphragm, irritability, red tongue with yellow fur, stringy or number of pulses. Avoid tobacco, alcohol, spicy, fishy food. Note that pregnant women should not take. Contraindicated for those with yin deficiency and fire (deficiency of yin essence in the body, resulting in hyperactivity of deficiency fire), spleen and stomach deficiency and cold (weak and cold spleen and stomach).
