Is a vertebral metastasis necessarily cancer?

Vertebral metastases, as the name implies, are tumorigenic changes in other parts of the body that metastasize to the vertebral body, resulting in tumorigenic changes in the bone of the vertebral body as well. For tumor diseases, only malignant tumors will have the characteristic of metastasis to distant places. Benign tumors will only grow locally in the tumor site and will not metastasize to distant areas, so vertebral metastases are definitely cancer and can be diagnosed. At present, the most common clinical condition is breast cancer or lung cancer metastasis to distant vertebral body, and if metastasis is detected at this time, the diagnosis is basically advanced. Therefore, if there are signs of vertebral metastases, we should further check whether there are primary tumor lesions in other parts of the body.
