What does lung puncture mean?

Lung puncture is a method of examination in which tissue from a lung lesion is obtained by puncture for pathologic examination. It can be mainly divided into two methods: percutaneous lung puncture and bronchoscopic lung puncture. 1. Percutaneous lung puncture: Percutaneous lung puncture refers to the physician under the guidance of X-ray, CT, B ultrasound and other imaging means, using a puncture needle to pass through the chest wall to reach the patient’s lesion to take samples for examination, which is suitable for the examination of masses and other foci of the peripheral part of the lungs. This method may cause pneumothorax and bleeding. 2. Bronchoscopic lung puncture: the puncture needle is passed through the bronchoscope under the guidance of ultrasound to reach the lesion to take samples and send them for examination. This method is suitable for centralized lesions located in the hilar region. For patients who need lung puncture examination, they should go to the relevant departments of regular hospitals and have the operation done by specialized physicians. The physician will make a diagnosis and carry out relevant treatment based on the examination report, the patient’s condition and other factors. Patients should not make self-diagnosis based on the checklist.
