What to do if your child has white spots on his tonsils

Children with white dots on the tonsils need to first analyze the causes of white dots on the tonsils, and then give targeted treatment. White spots on the tonsils are commonly found in the following situations: 1. Tonsil secretions: tonsils are formed by 6-20 blind tubes of varying depths reaching inside the tonsils, forming a tonsil crypt. And there are a large number of exfoliated epithelial cells, lymphocytes, and white blood cells gathered in the crypt, forming tonsillar secretions, i.e., there may be white dots on the tonsils. If the mouth of the saphenous fossa is relatively open, these secretions will be discharged from the body and usually do not cause serious infection. Therefore, there is no need to give special treatment in this case, just observe the child’s clinical symptoms; 2. Food residues: white food residues remain in the tonsils, which can appear as white dots on the child’s tonsils. In this case, it is recommended that the child rinse his mouth or brush his teeth repeatedly after eating to remove the food residue to avoid this phenomenon; 3. Acute purulent tonsillitis: usually caused by the child’s own low immunity. The white spots on the tonsils in this case are considered to be white purulent material, mostly caused by bacterial infections, the most common being streptococcal infections in clinical practice. In terms of treatment, you need to actively give anti-inflammatory treatment, if there is no history of drug allergy, you can take oral amoxicillin for treatment under the guidance of a doctor, and at the same time the child should rinse his mouth regularly and pay attention to oral hygiene; 4. tonsil stones: it may be due to chronic inflammation of the tonsils that does not heal, resulting in calcium salt deposits, or due to residues of food, bacteria, dead cells and other residues blocking the tonsil crypt mouth. The child may present with a sore throat, bad breath, difficulty swallowing, and white spot-like material on the surface of the tonsils. In this case, it is recommended to go to the hospital and have the doctor scrape or clip the white substance with pliers, or rinse it with a stream of oral cleanser, and if necessary, perform a tonsillectomy.
