Honeysuckle

Honeysuckle can be used to treat carbuncle furuncle (mostly in the limbs or facial sores, the shape of small roots deep, such as nails as hard), paralysis of the larynx (pharyngeal red, swollen, painful, or dry, foreign body sensation, or throat itching, discomfort, dysphagia), dengue (acute infectious disease, the skin can be seen as red like paint), wind-heat colds, fever, pyrexia dysentery (dysentery caused by feeling the heat, stools see blood) and other diseases. Honeysuckle is the dried flower buds of Lonicera japonica or the first flowers of Lonicera japonica. It is sweet in flavor and cold in nature. It belongs to the lung, heart and stomach meridians. It is effective in clearing heat and removing toxins (removing heat and toxic evils from the body) and evacuating wind-heat (evacuating wind-heat evils from the body). It is often used with wild chrysanthemum and dandelion for treating boils and poisons with deep roots; for treating intestinal carbuncle (carbuncle occurring in the intestines and bowels with fever, pain in the right side of the abdomen, and palpable lump as a manifestation) and abdominal pain, it is often used in combination with Hongteng and Angelica sinensis, for treating lung carbuncle with coughing up of pus and blood, and it is often used in combination with Fish Bulb and Coix lacryma, for treating blood-heat and toxicity and dengdanjiang red and swollen, it can be used in combination with Dazhongye, Zihaodidin, and so on. Honeysuckle is contraindicated in people with deficiency of the spleen and stomach (spleen and stomach weakness and cold) and qi deficiency with sores and pus clearing, and the adverse effects are not yet clear.
