Dark nipples and areolas are generally physiological and are not contagious, but are mostly associated with changes in hormone levels. Some patients have infectious diseases themselves, and even if they do, they are caused by the transmission of the cause of the infectious disease itself to others; darkened nipples and areolas are not themselves infectious.
