How many years after a heart stent do you need to review

Cardiac stents are usually used for the treatment of coronary heart disease. The review of patients after cardiac stenting is divided into two aspects: on the one hand, the general condition of the patient is reviewed, and on the other hand, coronary angiography review is performed. The review is mainly done at 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and 12 months after the operation, and after that, regular medical checkups can be done every year, and if there is any discomfort, the patient can be reviewed at any time. Patients after cardiac stenting need to be checked 1 month after surgery for clinical symptoms such as chest tightness and chest pain, to monitor the changes of patients’ blood pressure, heart rate and other related vital signs, and to review the biochemical indexes such as liver and kidney function, electrolytes, blood lipids and blood glucose. At 3 months and 6 months postoperatively, we mainly monitor patients’ heart condition, whether there is reconstruction or heart enlargement through cardiac ultrasound and routine blood examination. The 12-month post-operative review is done mainly by cardiac ultrasound, as well as routine blood, biochemistry, electrocardiogram, and exercise panel test to monitor the patient’s recovery. Routinely, there is no rule that patients must be reviewed for coronary angiography after cardiac stenting because coronary angiography is an invasive test and carries certain risks. However, if the patient has symptoms such as chest tightness and chest pain again after the procedure, and angina is highly suspected, the coronary angiogram needs to be repeated to observe whether the stenosis has occurred within the original stent or is caused by other vascular lesions and other factors. In addition, if the patient has multiple vascular lesions, and the cardiac stent implantation only intervenes in one of the vessels, and the other vascular lesions are in a critical state but not intervened, in this case, it is recommended that in addition to intervening whenever there are symptoms, a coronary angiogram or coronary CTA review can be performed at 9-12 months of stent implantation.
